How To Attract Your Ideal Audience

How To Attract Your Ideal Audience.jpg

I have lived through the pain of not being able to attract the right people to my business. It took me a little while to realise that my strategy of ‘working with anyone’ was actually causing more problems to my business then I knew! I’ve gone through working with awkward clients, I’ve worked on projects that didn’t resonate with me and I’ve produced work that I was pleased with but which didn’t represent my style at all.
I soon came to realise that it’s impossible to appeal to the masses, you will never win if your business offers a “one size fits all”. Once I learnt this it was honestly like (in the words of Drake) I just flipped the switch!
I needed to go niche, stand out and only appeal to a certain type of person; one that shared the same beliefs as I do, recognised my values and trusted my expertise.
Here are some helpful tips which I wish I had been given at the start of my business journey. Remember, you want to be targeting the best people for YOUR business, clients who are willing to invest and who believe in YOUR process and share YOUR values. Trust me, you will see a HUGE change.
  1. KNOW WHO THEY ARE
You can’t attract them if you don’t know who they are! Think: what do they do? How old are they? What do they believe in? What are their pain points, struggles, wants and needs? The better you understand them, the easier it will be to build a connection with them.
  2. DON’T SETTLE FOR AVERAGE
Attracting your ideal audience takes time, you need to. show up everyday for your community, you need to not only share content but you need to engage with them. It’s time to become a reliable source of information, educate them, be an expert and give them the knowledge that’s going to make their life easier, and make it free!
  3. BECOME A LEADER IN YOUR FIELD
Whatever it is you sell, whether it’s a service or product, you need to find a way to build a community around it. Your target market needs to feel a connection to what you sell and the best way to do this is to find something worth changing and begin to build a following that believes in the same values as you.
  4. LET YOUR COMMUNITY BE YOUR MARKETERS
Non of this follow to unfollow malarkey! Build a solid community that you can trust and know are your true fans. True fans are people who will buy anything you sell, recommend you to friends and follow everything you do. They are your businesses best marketers!
  5. TELL A GREAT BRAND STORY
What is your story? Don’t underestimate the power of a great brand story. The amazing thing about small businesses is that you have a connection to a person behind the business, there is a personal story there that is much more than a faceless company!
Share EVERYTHING! It might take some time to get used to but people want to see you, how you work, live and everything in between. We are humans - we like to be nosey!
